Chairman of State Commission on Prisoners of War (POW), Hostages and Missing Citizens, Minister of National Security of Azerbaijan, Lieutenant-General Eldar Mahmudov met with former head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) country representative Mary Werntz and Martin Amacher, who is to substitute her at this post, 19 September.

The Minister provided the visitors with information about activities of the State Commission towards release of the POWs and hostages and finding the missing persons, enhancing cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross, and thanked Ms. Werntz for constructive cooperation during her mission.

Mr. Mahmudov congratulated Martin Amacher on new appointment and wished success in activity.

Noting fruitful working contacts between the State Commission on Prisoners of War (POW), Hostages and Missing Citizens and the International Committee of the Red Cross in search and release of POWs, hostages, missing persons, the Minister appraised joint activity of the Committee and ICRC in this direction.

Ms. Werntz and Martin Amacher expressed gratitude to Chairman of State Commission Eldar Mahmudov for provided information, noting good environment for cooperation between State Commission and ICRC.

The sides underlined necessity of further continuation of cooperation and strengthening of joint efforts.
